The DDG recording is up on DIME.

Individual links are to YouTube videos.

I've been minimizing commentary (better to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt) recently but have to say that the DDG set this time around, even with some technical difficulties surrounding Jules' guitar, was even more tight then the previous times we had seen them last year.  It's uncommon for me to enjoy a band's slower tracks more than their faster paced ones, but this was an exception...Kristin's...er, Dee Dee's vocal delivery was enough to bring the house down, especially on tracks like 'Hold Your Hand' and 'In My Head'...but most of all, the phenomenal encore track 'Coming Down'...I'm hoping they follow groups like The Joy Formidable in getting some national television exposure, even if I probably won't want to catch them in any venues much larger than the GAMH.

Recorded with (I believe) a Cisco Flip HD stage right in the corner, synced to my friend tomzero's outboard recording (Sonic Studios DSM-6/L mics plugged into an Edirol R-09HR)....I have my own recording but it's currently lost, sitting on a DVD-R that I can't quite locate!
I had shared openers Minks years ago (https://www.atmyheels.com/2011/03/minks-wdirty-beaches-2011-02-16-bottom.html) ...the only live performance vid of them it turns out, so very fortunate to have documented it...and I originally was going to wait until their second album came out before making this available...but never got around to it...until I discovered the video footage on a drive array I was sorting through....really really good POV of all band members. It's good that I did as I don't think this would have surfaced otherwise... the moral of the story is the best backup is sharing. Synced up quite nicely, and with some audio sweetening it's as good as can be hoped for with something like this.
Enjoy Dee Dee and band during their heyday on their first tour date playing songs from the aptly named "Only In Dreams".... Better late than never! As their bass amp packed it in the bass is DI so it's probably a bit vanilla....but otherwise, this is great.

The Vaselines w/Dum-Dum Girls - 2010-10-20 - Great American Music Hall SF

I recently had the extreme pleasure of witnessing The Vaselines, supported by up-and-coming LA group Dum-Dum Girls.  Excellent show, and yet another reason to continue to chronicle all the amazing performances I've been exposed to in 2010.  Interesting random fact:  The current guitarist/bassist playing with Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee are moonlighting from Belle And Sebastien.

The SF Weekly Blog Review gives a pretty accurate summary of the proceedings, except that "You Think You're A Man" wasn't an off-setlist track, despite what the onstage banter would have you believe, as it has been played throughout their tour.

I've linked to a couple of YouTube videos from the show that I've found. Hint: click on 'autumnsweaters' under the photos.

The first video is the title track from their latest album, Sex With An X.  They played about half the album, and were definitely up to the standard of their older material.

The other track which was uploaded features members of the opening act Dum-Dum Girls appeared on stage with Mr. Kelly and Ms. McKee to perform 'Molly's Lips'.

And of course, I'm sharing my own recording.
Details after the jump...
